  Saint David of Wales Episcopal Church is great in ways that a Christian Church ought to be great, different, and better in Portland, Oregon. Recognizing that the truth about the mystery of our existence is too big to be contained in any book, creed, mantra, or myth, Saint David's rector and parishioners are open and compassionate--not dogmatic. This community of believers, followers, agnostics and, yes, even atheists is building a great new community.
  
  This church is coming back in a big way. If you have not had the chance to stop by and see what goes on inside, you are missing out. And no canned music inside. The musical director is filled with humor and talent and his piano playing should not be missed.

  A wonderful, inclusive community committed to social justice, equity, and good coffee. I highly recommend this wonderful place, either for worship or community involvement through the many activities that take place here!

  St. David's is a community filled with love, energy, and joy. I have been at St. David's for almost 2 years and I fully plan on staying here forever. When I look at St. David's, I see a community truly of people of all ages. I see a community that respects everyone, no matter who you are. I see a community that is okay with doubt, is okay with mistakes, and is okay with things not going perfectly. I see a community that cherishes life and is okay with kids making sounds during the service. I see a community that is okay with changing up the music and changing up the sermons to reflect what's going on in society - a community that is real. I see a community that is truly a community of loving, caring individuals who without thinking will drop what they are doing to make sure you are okay just because they heard you were sick. I see a community that is constantly looking at ways to help the greater Portland community, such as by donating books to New City Initiative, by cooking meals once per month through Hot Meals, and by distributing items to our friends on the streets with the Red Wagon program. I could go on and on about how amazing St. David's is. St. David's is a welcoming and loving place. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey or where you are in your life, consider stopping by St. David's.

  I love this church! I was living in the neighborhood, and just felt drawn to check it out one Sunday. People were so friendly, and immediately noticed that I was new and came to greet me. After church shopping for almost a year, this was a breath of fresh air. I love the tradition - and knowing that we are part of a greater community using the same Bible passages at the same time around the world. The community is open, welcoming, enthusiastic, and vibrant in so many ways! Never thought I'd find a church home where Yoga, pre-school, music lessons, the Tool Library, ukelele and more exist under one roof!

  This church held out a lot of hopes for us, but unfortunately the same things that drew my family to this church also caused us to leave. The priest is awesome, but the music leader/community support person leaves a lot to be desired, with his flippant attitude.
  
  After several months attending, my wife was encouraged to join the choir, so I agreed to play bass for them to help out and support her and the church. When I first left my bass there, between services, I was told that only a few had access to the room it was stored in. Unfortunately, it turns out several hundred had access and the room was often unlocked.
  
  When I discovered it was missing, one Sunday morning, I was told by Dan that "this church is like a sock drawer -- things come and go." Amazingly flippant attitude toward the theft of a very expensive instrument.
  
  Now, I do not feel this whole issue has ever been addressed properly, and we have lost what we hoped would be a wonderful church home. The open sense of community with the neighborhood is a wonderful thing, but people come and go within, so don't forget to lock up your belongings!
